National Institutes of Health · Deadline not published
The National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is interested in supporting research projects proposing the optimization and translational development of genomic and biologic therapeutic candidates for Alzheimer’s Disease-Related Dementias (ADRD). Breakthroughs in genomic and biologic therapies are creating new opportunities to treat, prevent, and potentially modify the course of dementias; however, progress is limited by challenges in delivery, safety, manufacturability, and readiness for clinical testing. This program is intended to support projects across the translational pipeline, from optimization through IND development and early clinical evaluation, for genomic and biologic therapeutic candidates with compelling preclinical evidence. Eligible projects may include activities to refine therapeutic design and manufacturability; establish pharmacology, toxicology, biodistribution, and in vivo efficacy; to generate the full body of data required to support regulatory interactions and IND submissions, and, when appropriate, first-in-human (FIH) clinical studies. The program is aligned with priorities from the ADRD Summits, including acceleration of disease-mo
Pilot Projects to Enhance the Human Virome Program (R03 Clinical Trials Not Allowed)
National Institutes of Health · Deadline 2026-11-10
The Common Fund Human Virome Program (HVP) aims to extensively and comprehensively characterize the "healthy" human virome (the collection of viruses that normally reside inside the human body without evidence of disease) and create tools, models, and methods that will enable an in-depth study of its variation and composition in relation to host factors and its influence on health and disease. The purpose of this NOFO is to support small pilot projects that extend the goals of the HVP, including further validating, improving, and complementing existing and newly developed tools from the HVP program by leveraging human specimens collected from the cohorts under the program; samples from animals to promote the refinement, utilization, and translation of these tools to better serve the goals of the HVP program; expanding existing cohorts and/or biospecimen sampling sites for virome characterization; developing tools, assays, and methods to study the human virome; and defining functional interactions between the human virome and host. These pilot projects will expand the HVP consortium, and collaboration across the HVP is expected. Applicants outside the current HVP are encouraged to a Awards range from $50,000 to $100,000.

Precision Approaches in Radiation Synthetic Combinations (PAIRS, RP1 Clinical Trial Optional)
National Institutes of Health · Deadline not published
Through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) solicits research projects that investigate actionable synthetic vulnerabilities that can be conditionally paired with tumor responses to radiation therapy. The goal of the Precision Approaches in Radiation Synthetic Combinations ( PAIRS) program is to develop radiation-synthetic combination strategies and facilitate their adoption into the precision medicine toolkit toward building new and effective anticancer treatments. Early synthetic lethality–based therapeutic strategies in oncology primarily focused on targeting fixed mutations or genomic abnormalities. More recently, however, it has become clear that clinical benefit is often determined by context-dependent vulnerabilities arising from the intrinsic mutational landscape and adaptive tumor responses. This NOFO is unique in its scope, supporting innovative cancer therapy strategies that explicitly exploit context-dependent effects of radiation therapy (RT) using drug-radiation combinations. The central premise of the PAIRS is that these conditional RT-induced responses can be leveraged to create or enhance actionable vulnerabilities that sy
